MEDITECH let out some interesting news with a new physician hire to lead their EHR (the LSS product, MPM) redesign. The new physician specifically mentions he’ll be working on the “new design”, but what remains to be seen is whether this is a complete redesign (yes, please) or just tweaking. What also wasn’t mentioned was what happened to the two physician advisors that LSS was previously using, one of which was an OB/GYN as well.

Regardless, this appears to be another positive step for MEDITECH in addition to doing a little shake-up and having some tough talks with the LSS folks. I still think they could benefit by hiring a user interface specialist to help with some basic design principles and a good redesign of their development process, but we’ll see what happens.
