Doctors, Lay Down Your Egos
If you’ve been paying attention to the healthcare news lately you might have heard that the genetics testing company 23andme has put a halt to their testing at the request of the FDA. The official reasoning? The FDA feels they “still do not have any assurance that the firm has analytically or clinically validated the … Continue reading
The Era of Legacy EHR Migration? Doubtful.
Legacy EHR: Any EHR that is not internet-dependent. How many times have we heard that the HIT market is shifting away from “Legacy” systems and towards web and cloud-based products over the past few years? Quite often, right? Hospital systems flaunt how they are migrating away from their legacy systems, and numerous vendors will … Continue reading
The Traveling Consultant: Airline Fatigue
A big part of doing what I do is traveling by air to the various locations of my clients. Much could be said about working remotely in this kind of industry and whether there is a need for an EHR consultant to actually travel weekly, but my clients apparently like seeing my face, so I … Continue reading

The Genetics and Intellectual Property Battle Rages On
Today marks another moment in the debate between burgeoning genetics companies trying to establish themselves in a growing industry and the American public, who is really just beginning to understand what genetics actually is. Originally posted on HISTalk Practice. Meaningful Use charts and graphs are a dime a dozen these days and as much as I’d like to add another bar or delicious pie chart to the mix, I just can’t bring myself to do it. 5 UI/UX Tips For MEDITECH’s New Web-Based EHR
For those not following the rumors, the conjecture…and well, the words coming out of MEDITECH’s employees’ mouths at their CIO Forum; MEDITECH is developing a web-based EHR for 6.1. It will supposedly come in a tablet-friendly format (meaning web-browser based, but “designed” for a smaller screen), and no it does not appear that it … Continue reading
Additional Meaningful Use 2011 Report Analysis

Below you will find some additional analysis focused on ambulatory attestations (Attestors are of “EP” Provider Type). However, please note that all statistical analysis is limited by the available data. What the CMS report does not have is the … Continue reading
2011 Ambulatory EHR Market Share
Back in October, AmericanEHR released their 2011 Ambulatory Market Share report. The sample size they used is actually pretty small, but the number are similar to the 2010 Ambulatory Market Share results release by Capsite, so at least there is consistency.
