Additional Meaningful Use 2011 Report Analysis
Yesterday, I gave a quick analysis to the newly released Meaningful Use November 2011 Attestation Report. Below you will find some additional analysis focused on ambulatory attestations (Attestors are of “EP” Provider Type). However, please note that all statistical analysis is limited by the available data. What the CMS report does not have is the … Continue reading
2011 Ambulatory EHR Market Share
Back in October, AmericanEHR released their 2011 Ambulatory Market Share report. The sample size they used is actually pretty small, but the number are similar to the 2010 Ambulatory Market Share results release by Capsite, so at least there is consistency.
Meaningful Use November 2011 Attestation Report
The CMS has released their Meaningful Use November 2011 Report for the masses to review. I have gone ahead and loaded the data into IBM’s wonderful Many Eyes site so you can play around with the data too. No big surprises have come out of this data. Epic is the heavyweight and is pulling in … Continue reading
ACOs and EHRs
Accountable Care Organizations are becoming the new Black. There are some of us who recognize how befitting that metaphor is given that healthcare models seem to have a cyclical nature to them. Mostly they cycle between physicians heading out to be independent from healthcare organizations and then coming back under the umbrella once again. Has … Continue reading
The EHR Squeeze: How Much Can You Get?
Every time I walk into an organization to do an assessment on how they are using their EHR, I feel like my clients all have the same thought: “How do we get the most out of our EHR? There is a magical way to use this software more efficiently that the vendor isn’t telling us what … Continue reading
New MEDITECH Hire Is Good News For LSS Customers
MEDITECH let out some interesting news with a new physician hire to lead their EHR (the LSS product, MPM) redesign. The new physician specifically mentions he’ll be working on the “new design”, but what remains to be seen is whether this is a complete redesign (yes, please) or just tweaking. What also wasn’t mentioned was … Continue reading
Advanced MD’s “Epic” EHR
Looks like Advanced MD is trying some new SEO tactics by inserting the name of a top-selling EHR into the ads for their not-so-top-selling EHR. I’m not sure what they were going for here, but wouldn’t this make more informed potential buyers less likely to take a look at their product because of stupid advertising? … Continue reading
Health Informatics
A little bit of an update in the news of me: I’m taking some time to pursue higher education and will be getting my Masters of Health Informatics over the newly started school year at the University of Minnesota. For those of you that keep up with this blog, you know I’ve dabbled quite a … Continue reading
MEDITECH on the iPad: A Review
Much to an IT department’s chagrin, a lot of physicians tend to be fans of Apple products much like myself. Therefore, they are continually requesting that their new EHR, which they may or may not like, be accessible on their iPad and iPhone. A little less than a year ago, MEDITECH posted a “Success story” … Continue reading
Engaging The Patient With Your EHR (And Why MEDITECH Can’t Help You)
The most underutilized resource in all of healthcare is the patient. For those unfamiliar, e-Patient Dave (Dave deBronkart) is a fairly well known blogger and activist who uses his personal experience to advance the proliferation of healthcare data into the hands of patients. No, this isn’t meaning through Patient Portals or PHRs. The idea is … Continue reading
